The latest chapter in the Burnski story is the best yet. The Brit producer has now been active more than a decade, with a discography that takes in 30+ EPs. But now the northerner has really found his feet with a sound that fuses house grooves with techno dynamism and dub warmth. Add in elements of acid, minimalism and breakbeat, and you have an infectious style that suits tasteful parties and connoisseur selectors. It’s subtle, slow release material that leaves a lasting impression.

Proof of that came on his 2016 album DNA. As the title suggests, it revealed his inner musical workings and, across two vital slabs of wax, won over press, DJs and dancers alike. It resulted in a DJ tour of Asia, Australia and Europe, and lead to the revered Mandar trio remixing ‘Another Source’ into one of the underground hits of the summer.

That knowing A&R skill has lead the Constant Sound and Constant Black labels (co-run with long time friend Jon Woodall) to become buy on sight. Offering slick grooves that sit in a fresh middle ground between house, dub and techno, they reflect his own kinetic and silky DJ sets. Add in production work under his Constant alias and you have an artist who is serving up his most essential and exciting work after more than ten years in the game.
